A simple one-skein shawl, perfect for the beginner knitter. Pattern is free, can be e-mailed to you with picture.
MARYANNE
Uses one skein of Sparkle Plenty or
Not Just Socks.
approx 420 yards per skein.
This is an asymmetrical shaped shawl, with points along one side. Skill level – EASY.
With 4.5 mm circular (even 5 mm will do) needle 80 cm long, cast on 2 stitches. You are using a circular needle because of the number of stitches that you end up with are too many for a straight needle.

Row 2 – K1, Kf/b, K1
Pattern:
Row 1 - Kf/b, K to end of row
Row 2 – K to last stitch, Kf/b
Row 3 – Kf/b, K to end of row
Row 4 – K to last stitch, Kf/b
Row 5 – Kf/b, K to end of row
Row 6 – K to last stitch, Kf/b
Row 7 – K f/b, knit to last stitch, Kf/b
Row 8 – Cast off 4 stitches. K1, (yo, K2 tog) to last 1 or 2 stitches, K f/b in last stitch. You are making a point and knitting a lace row on the same row.
Repeat Pattern until you have enough yarn left to cast off (4 times the length of your last row). Cast off loosely and block.
